ETIQUETTE, 18th Edition - Manners for a New World
Introducing Emily Post's Etiquette, 18th Edition! It’s been seven years since the last edition of Emily Post’s ETIQUETTE, and the world has changed. Seven years ago the term “social networking” didn’t exist, everyone had a land-line, cell phones didn’t allow email access, and there was no such thing as an e-reader, iPad or Skype. These inventions have drastically altered the way people relate to each other. That’s where ETIQUETTE comes into play, as an essential tool in navigating 21st century communication. The definitive voice in American manners, Emily Post’s ETIQUETTE, 18th Edition (on-sale 10/18/11, $39.99) tackles modern issues—from texting and tweeting, to iPhones and Facebook. The Posts set guidelines like these for the first time ever.
Don't Be "That Guy," Remember Flu Etiquette
During Flu season, when fever, aches, and chills hit, it is easy to forget one's manners. A recent survey of more than 1,000 Americans found that nearly two-thirds (64%) of those who had influenza in the past three years admits to being "that guy," who despite experiencing flu symptoms, continues to go about his or her daily activities. As part of its "Are You That Guy?" influenza education campaign, the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) is partnering with Emily Post to remind Americans to do the responsible thing during flu season and practice behavior that will help limit the spread of influenza, a highly contagious virus. Read Anna Post's tips on what to do when you have the flu or how to handle social situations when others may be sick.
